Executive Director's Report – Pat Rose

·       Revenue increased approximately 22%, costs decreased approximately 10%. This left excess revenue of about  $56,000 for 2007. However, the EC voted to spend funds from this excess to allow all AAA members to celebrate and have momentums of the 50th Anniversary.  AAA currently  has over $400,000 in equity and is planning to build core equity for the future  when AAA may well need to pay for additional services.

  Committee Reports:

  • Awards Committee – Herb Rotfeld– 3 nominations for 2 awards. Nominations lacked specificity and did not detail or make a case for why the nominees met criteria for the awards. Nominators must read the calls carefully to make sure they meet the criteria. Joe Phelps asked for further clarification – Herb mentioned that calls will be more detailed. He suggested talking with Awards committee members to get clarification.

·       Finance Committee – Nancy Mitchell – Reviewed the 2007 budget and actuals as well as the budget for 2008.  All of the committee's queries were answered satisfactorily. The committee also reviewed the new AAA Policy Manual with detailed financial procedures. The committee believes the policy manual will help to ensure compliance with accounting requirements and financial  transparency.

  • Membership Committee – Frauke Hachtmann- 479 members, 60 + new  members.
  • Publication Committee – Barbara Phillips – The current webmaster's term expires this December. Thus, the committee will be interviewing candidates for the position. Asked for JA editor budget to be increased. Taken on JIAD. Will be working with Hairong Li, the current Editor.

Accordingly, written financial information  will be distributed at each business meeting as of 2009.  This information will be attached to the member's minutes.

Carrie La Ferle asked for strategic information about plans for future. Dean Krugman responded that he has commissioned  a committee to look ahead and help with strategic planning.
